BoxLight LCD Projector Troubleshooting

along with the $10 B&W, I got an LCD projector at a surplus auction. It was a little more than the epson projectors were going for at the last auction ( @$5 a piece), but I still got a decent deal, being that it works.

But there is a problem, and I know even less about LCD projector technology than I do about B&Ws.

It works great, but there is this green line through the image just left of the center of the image.

I can't tell by looking at the unit, but the auction said it was a BoxLight Revolution 3000. I think BoxLight is still around, but they haven't responded to my requests for information. I can't even tell during what years this projector was manufactured (it is out of production) to help determine its age. I can find no information on this unit

The green line is strange in that it is very straight and sharp, and the video images move through it, that is, you can see image in the green line, which has some thickness. There is also a strange horizontal green bar of varying intensity accross the bottom of the projection, but it is under its display so it doesn't bother me as much.

I know someone who is an excellent TV repair man, but he is also very much into taking things apart he knows nothing about. Before I even tell him about this, I was hoping those more knowledgable about the technology could tell me if it is likely that a tv repair man could even repair something like this... as it seems to be a digital malfunction (though it is a consistant malfunction... it is always there, always in the same place... almost like someone put a thin piece of translucent green tape on the lens...)

I tried to add an attacment here, a little movie of the issue... but I got an error message saying I was using an illegal extension... I zipped the .mov file... but it said .zip was an illegal extension... I don't know why it wouldn't let me upload it. I tried to upload it into Audio/Video... and it said it did, but I didn't have access to it... if its there, I don't know.
anyhoo... if anyone could see that 280kb .mov file, they'd immediately see the issue if my description is kind of vague.

The image is blurry because of my digital camere exposure, not the fault of the projector... but notice that verticle green line, and the horizontal bar accross the bottom...

you can try

you can try massageing the screen on both side. Have a pair of latex gloves on your hand when you do it. You will need to disasseble the projector to get to the lcd i'm guessing. but, the line might come back to health. Just don't push on the screen too hard when you do it.
