...the poor 660AV! All it wanted to do was to spend out its retirement as a useful machine. Instead, it gets converted into a peripheral for a newer model. Certain parasitic wasps do this in nature to caterpillars...
I'd have used a PC case, instead of gutting what is still a cool system (I'm partial... see signature).

Looks like there's enough room for the Mini's PS, behind the optical drive.
I dunno, but I have some issue with this. For starters, gutting an av quadra is a travesty. If it were a lowly Centris or Quadra 610, I wouldn't be so upset. However, if I were to do this, I'd find a way to mount a working usb floppy into the cabinet so it will look and physically act like a 610. Maybe use an adb-usb adapter to utilize a beige adb kb and mouse. But that's just me.

You could even replace the Centris's CD drive with a whole Mini and have a dual-CPU Centris/Mini chymera. Ethernet them together so the Quadra can access the Mini's drives, and pilot both at once with VNC.
Aesthetically I think the ideal drive expansion would be either a new top or foot for the Mini in the same footprint. A new, taller case top in the same style, with a slot for the existing optical drive, and room above that for an internal 3.5" HD, bundled with the cable and adapter, would make a great product. Like the LC hightop expansion from waybackwhen.
Even better it could have a mains plug in the back, a small PS for the HD, and room for the mini PS. And a fan, big, slow and quiet.
Hmmm, ... empty Cube acrylic shell?
The Mini really is the LC for the 21st century, isn't it? Except not crippled.
If only I could afford a Mini, I'd have a go at stuffing it into an LC case.
