Hello, well both hinges broke from my powerbook, if i connected an external monitor, all I would see in the external is a white screen, and in the lcd I would be able to make out a faintly image. Now I have taken off the lcd completly, I tried connecting the powerbook to an external monitor, and i still get the same response, nothing but a white screen not even the apple comes up...please help me what can i do, should I get another screen, get an older book and just upgrade it with the parts of the broken one...or what... please I need HELP!!!!

. . . you need to be a little more specific when soliciting for aid. What model Powerbook is it? (e.g. G3, G4, Pismo, Titanium, newer Aluminum, what processor speed, screen size etc. . . )
Also, what kind of shape is the built-in monitor cable like? Frayed, cut, still attached?
Are you capable of this type of repair with instruction, or should you turn it over to a pro?
First identify the situation, then others may try to help.

Your TiBook has a video-mirroring F-key (F7), press that while running the external display and see what happens (assumes the 'Book is booting to the OS.) If still no video, I'd wager the video subsystem is fried.
As for the cable appearing undamaged, don't count on it. With two broken hinges, the most likely source of your trouble is a cut, shorted cable.
Best financial solution is to break up and sell off the remains part-by-part, and use the proceeds to buy something else.

IIRC, it's Apple-F1 or Apple-F2 to switch to mirroring mode.
