Um...

10MB movie file for 20-some photos of a 7100 with a paint job?

I don't want to discourage hacking, but there are much, much better ways of sharing your work than with an iPhoto movie export.

binhexed, 15MB actually

I'd love to see your mod too, but I'm afraid the .mov thing just ain't the way to share it. I bailed on the DL when I saw the file size.

I downloaded it

I agree the file size is excessive for a few jpeg's. But I did download it, and the music and slideshow format make it pretty enjoyable to view. So I like that.

I do have to say, however, that the mod itself is not to my taste. It is clear that it took a fair amount of time and effort, and I certainly commend you for that. But it looks rather like an old car with a bunch of bumper stickers stuck all over it. If you consider doing something similar to another 7100, I would recommend the following:

(1) Paint the 7100 white, or some solid color, first - this will cover over the color difference between the plastic and metal parts of the case (each of which ages very differently in terms of color). It would also provide a richer, more finished looking backdrop for your Apple logos.

(2) Remove the factory apple badge on the front - it looks weird competing with the larger one you've painted. Also, paint only one Apple logo on the top, not three.

(3) Put either the "apple" or "think different" on the front, so that you have only one word/phrase on any one surface of the unit (top or front). Also, put the word/phrase right under the Apple logo.

But, as I wrote above, this clearly was a fair amount of work for you. So you should post the images here as a story in the case mods section of the hacks section, and explain how you did that rainbow painting!

Best,
Matt

Nice Mod

Nice way to make the case a bit more interesting. I wouldn't mind doing that to the side of an old tower.

I added a few captures from the quicktime file to the bottom of your post. 14Mb is too big for a lot of people.
