I think it's about time. It makes you wonder, though.. Apple would only have to make another Newton in order for them to singlehandedly freeze over hell!
Veddy interesting! I wonder
Veddy interesting! I wonder if this isn't a sign Apple's expecting to get a lot of 'switchers' once Mactels are released. If, as the stories so far suggest, Mactels can dual-boot Windows, it would sure help to have a two (or more) button mouse.
I really like the scrolling
I really like the scrolling abilities, and the programmable buttons. There goes my microsoft mouse.
Wireless?
This is great! But it would be hard for me to give up my BT mouse. I wonder if they'll do a wireless version? I hope so. Although, wired does work better for gaming, so...hmm.
**goes to Apple site to ponder for a while**
and a speaker in it as well...
A mouse with a speaker in it....very interesting. Did you guys notice that part?
A mouse with a speaker in
Now I have.
But in looking for that, I also noticed there's a Windows driver included with the mouse...very odd for Apple...which seems to support the idea this mouse is partly in preparation for marketing the MacTels as dual-boot.
My theory is that the Windows capabilities of the Mactels will be marketed very low-key. I don't think Apple would want to imply that there may be something lacking in the OS X platform by promoting 'we also do Windows'. I do see it being the big seller for Mactels - two platforms for the price of one and a half
Back on topic though and away from fanciful speculation, it's a cool mouse, shame about the price.

And just think about how much a wirless model would cost!
