Swapping PowerBook Logic Boards?

A friend has a 500MHz G4 PowerBook Titanium with a dead display, and one of the options we're looking at for getting him back in action with the laptop is to just buy a like machine (in working condition, of course) swap out the hard drives, and send him on his way.

One of the computers that I've been able to source at a decent price is a 400MHz TI, but he doesn't really want to step down in processor speed (he's running Tiger!) so I'm wondering if the logic board for a 500MHz model will be a direct replacement for the 400MHz.

Anybody know for sure?

All parts will swap between these two. I'd strip the two machines, rebuild the best unit you can out of the bits, then flog the remainder on eBay.

Or keep the remainder as spares . . . or source a replacement LCD and build another user unit . . . or . . . whatever.
