Are you talking about the Qui

Are you talking about the Quicktake? Yes, I have one, and use it all the time. It's usefullness depends on the model and the Mac with which you are using it, though.

actually this is it http://ww

actually this is it http://www.shrevesystems.com/vfone.gif

seem like something looking like an older computer/personal videocamera.

I still can't quite figure out what was meant by "Now includes AC adapter for stand alone mode" description like its supposed to be able to plug to a macintosh somewhere and not need ac cable?? (or is that adb port again?)

It is

Yes, that's the conferencing camera, it was used with the Performas and some powermacs, the power supply was required for use with some macs and of course televisions as they lack the 7-pin S-Video in port which also supplies 5v (iirc) power to the camera. If you have an old powermac or performa and are missing the software I have a copy of it lying around, PM me if you want it. It works quite well (over ISDN, Ethernet or broardband of some sort) but you need 2 macs with video-in cameras, oh and it only works in classic. But it's just a normal camera so it should work with a video-in adaptor on X.

hm would it work fine on its

hm would it work fine on its own with the typical (seem that way to me) video-in card on the performas, right?

what did the software do? (or is that just the conferencing software all alone?)

oh! so that's what that 7-pin S-Video connector on my 7200 Video in block was for? The block I had, had 2 S-Video connectors, but one was used as 4-pin, and one 7-pin. I thought the 7-pin was used for some video camers that featured machine-commans to fast fwd, and rewind the cameras. I always wondered what the port was for...

aye, that it would

it's just the conferencing software, the camera would not need software to run as it's analogue.

Indeed it was, it baffled me for a while until I found the existance of these cameras.

aladds thank you very much :D

aladds thank you very much Biggrin

makes me wondering about ordering one of these now for my performa and perhaps take the connectix webcam to only my G3 powerbook (I had first ponder sharing one cam between the two but now I think maybe I'll get both types and wouldn't have to keep swapping cable :p)

Do remember...

That you have to have 2 AV capable PPC macs to run the software to another mac, unfortunatly you can't just do it one way to a non-AV mac (as far as I can make out)...
