beige G3 AIO issues

first issue:
the power supply has just done the funkiest thing i have ever witnessed. it won't supply the hd or cd. the mobo gets juice to power up and tell me that it can not find the system folder (?-floppy). it just happened between restarts. i know for a fact that the hd and cd work ( by hacking a second power supply from an old external drive case. it all works now, but how difficult is replacing the power supply. for 25 bucks i can get an entire new AIO case with fresh psu, and for 10 bucks i can get a new psu. what do you think i should do. i want to know if i can replace the psu without diing or cutting off a hand - since i almost lost a finger opening up a 5500.

second issue:
on the A/V card for the G3-AIO, there is a connector for a cable of some sort. it is marked as the DAV (right next to the monitor connector. have been able to find nothing on this. what is it for? can i get something cool to put in it? or is it just going to laugh ta me forever and ever amen?

any info is greatly appreciated.

peace and love
ande

the dav port on the a/v perso

the dav port on the a/v personality card was for select few tv tunner cards to put the signal on the a/v card so you could capture it or watch it on the internal monitor or if on a beige dt or mt on the external monitor connected to the orignal onboard video

the psu in the AIO is tricky

the psu in the AIO is tricky to get to but easy in the same since all you have to do is remove the screws take the front face plate off and there are star keys to remove.but a word of warning do not touch the enternal crt cause it can kill you and the psu is right beside the internal crt.i would put on rubber gloves trying to take the psu out.there is disasimbly guides on the net for the AIO all you have to do is www.google.com it they come in a .pdf

See if the 12v on the PSU has

See if the 12v on the PSU has gone out. I had an old 630cd that would power a mobo but no HDD. I tried a laptop IDE drive and it fired right up. The 2.5" drives run on 5v.

i have a new aio case, but it

i have a new aio case, but ithink the speakers are dead. plus i think i might have a bad hd a a bad ide cable. the cd powers on at power-on, but the hd doesnt. i have to wait till the ?-floppy and then reboot to get the hd to be recognized. if i restart, all is fine, but shutdown to power-on will find ?-floppy first and then i need to reboot. any more help will be cool.

have you tryed to reset the p

have you tryed to reset the pram and reset open firmware.it also could be a dead pram battery. have you dbl checked to see if the hdd and all the connections are hooked up there is an ide looking cable that leads from the front that hooks into the personality card for sound if its not hooked up right you wont get no sound

all is fine now

ok, so thanks to all you who pitched in. i am glad that i now know what that darn dav port is for...and now know how not to kill myself opening up the aio case.

1. the hd issue: somehow the jumper fell off. i put it back on and the happy mac comes up right-away.
2.. sound issue: i think the speakers were dead. i took the speakers and the sound baord (from behind the faceplate) from the dead case and installed in the new case. i can play my spicegirls and nin all night long.

i now have a really cool (almost classic mac looking) mtal housing-exposed aio on top of my shelf. it is exposed besause i am going to mod the colours. if it is cool enough to post here i will show the progress. plus i am using the mobo and drive not used to build a g3 thing. not sure what kind of thing it will be, but i hope to find parts for it soon, before my wife goes to school.
