new to this site. here is my prob. g3 mac os 9.2.2 just installed a 2-port usb pci card (pci1045,c861) because i bought an hp printer (laserjet 3310) i ran the printer software and get to a point (step 2) where i select usb or tcp/ip. i select usb and my printer does not show up in the window of available printers. nothing is in that window as a matter of fact. so i run a mac appl. called desktop printer utility. when i do that i can select the ppd for the printer but i cannot select it from the usb because it is not listed there either. i say save anyway and it tells me i cannot print to an unspecified printer. now come on who is the MAC GIANT that is goona help a fella out?

More often than not, with Classic, print drivers must be added after the fact.
If you already have, then the next question would become 'are your extensions for the USB card/HP drivers enabled?', but we will tackle that later if we must.

Bear with me as I ask a bunch of dumb questions so that someone smarter than we two put together can see what is going on...

[*] Have you made sure the USB card is working okay by hooking up some other USB device?
[*] Are you sure the printer is in good working order?
[*] Are the extensions for the printer and the USB card both enabled?
[*] Is the printer online? (Had this problem with an Epson - if it is offline, the computer does not recognize it)
[*] When you say you selected the printer for USB from the printer software, did you go into the Chooser also? or was that what you meant?
