Everytime I plug in my USB camera iPhoto starts up. How can I stop it from starting. I just want to work from the camera icon on the desktop.

try the cd dvd control panel and see it there photo drop box
and pick none instead of i photo
Go to Applications, and open "Image Capture"
Open up the prefereances.
Under the "General" tab, it says "When a camera is connected open:"
Choose "No Application"
