A2 X10 controller found

I just picked up a set of X10 Powerhouse kits.  One is the X10 controller itself, and the other kit is a serial cable adn software, and a couple X10 adapters too.  Anyone seen these before?  I didn't think X10 was old enought ot be available on the A2...

Yup,  they definitly had the X10 (home automation) system for Apple IIe's/GS's, I remember the ads and thinking about the pro's and con's.  I think that they also had a Commodore 64 version.

I think that there is a nice modern/USB/OSX version.  Does anyone have that link?

This one lists IIe and IIc compatibility.  I'm sure it has something to do with a SuperSerial interface or something, as the controlle rtakes a serial cable.

The idea that the X10 devices interface with a serial cable/card makes sense.  The //c had a built in serial "card" (two actually).  Also, I understand that the recent versions of this device, (PC and/or Macintosh) but pre-USB age, ones were still serial compatible.

The X-10 was one of the first expansion ideas for the Apple II+ (and maybe even the Apple II) line. The first manufacturer I remember offering X-10 modules for the Apple II was Mountain Hardware, Inc. around 1979.

I just spent a few minutes doing some research on this setup.  Suprisingly I think I stumbled onto a decent find for the venerable A2 users:  This unit is a CP 290!  A common, though discontinued, controller.  The owners manual and programming guide are online (and newer versions than what I have) but there is not A2 software available for d/l from what I have seen so far.  I've got a floppy of the CP-290 controll software v1.0 for the IIc and IIe (Rev B w/ 80 col card)  I'm guessing that the serial port on the CP-290 is a standard A2 serial port, right?  I'm guessing that it is hardwired for a null modem.  Anyone know more on this, or should I keep on Googling?
