Hey, all, guess what? I won first prize in the Mac Secrets contest this year! $500! Whoo hoo! Any ideas on how i should spend it? I want a cheap G3 PowerBook or new iBook, and if anyone has one for sale or knows where I can find a cheap one, please respond or e-mail me. (Tom: Feel free to move this where you think it's appropriate, I am not sure if this is the right place) Jason

On the inside of the front cover, there is a list of keyboard shortcuts. That was my idea. Look at page xiii, in the preface. I am in the last paragraph on the page. For those without the book (and you lazy people), here it is: "This year, we’re awarding the grand $500 prize to reader Jason Bertrand. His entry was a suggestion: that we summarize all the secret keystrokes of the Mac into a handy table to print on the inside covers of the book. No, his entry isn’t a traditional Mac secret; but on the merits of “Which contest submission will the most people find helpful?” we think Jason’s tip takes the cake. The fruits of his idea appear on the inside covers of this edition." That's me! Jason

You mean all the secret keystrokes for the System and the Finder? Could you give an example?

It's only $27 on Amazon.com. Tom: Keys to press during startup, like command-option-P-R to reset PRAM, and keys to press when the Mac is on, like control-option-power to shut down, and conflict catcher keys, like command-R to abort startup and reboot.
