ok so i finally got around to attempting to fix my apple IIc from my last post----
----> http://www.applefritter.com/node/24676

any way i ordered a new processor and installed it and the IIc still doesnt work. it displays different garbage on screen than the last time. you can see the new screenshot in the attachment. the old screenshot is in my last post. other than that all the same symptoms still exist (no beep, no disc spin up, etc). could this be a memory problem like [segarule] suggested in the last post? again i tried reseating all connectors like the keyboard and such and no luck.

thanks for any help

Wheelman,

Are you trying to load a disk and if so what disk are you trying to load?

I don't think anyone asked that particular question.

Given that screen capture - the disk is irrelevant. The CPU's not getting reset. What happens with a Ctrl-Reset key sequence?

im not loading a disk. im just trying to get its basic command prompt as a sign of life. when i press the reset sequence (which is apple key+control+reset) something happened. it doesnt happen immediately though. i had to press the sequence several times to get the screen to change. heres the picture.

thanks everybody

Re: apple IIc startup problem (again)

just a quick thought here.. considering that the machine is 15+ years old, it could be that the solder joints or paths need to be reflowed due to separation or cracking (either due to shipment, or dropping). I have had to reflow many old equipment that i thought didnt work and this usually does the trick. With the //c it will be time consuming but is a cheap fix. I would also inspect to see that nothing is shorting out transistors or micro chips and even connectors, clean the top and bottom with a fine soft bristled paint brush. good luck.
