Cannot format hard drive

I have a PowerPC 7600 and I have the apple system disc 7.5 when I boot from the cd and I try to erase the harddrive it says that it cannot because files are open. I am positive I am booting for
The cd so i"m stuck

Can you - either from the CD or by download - create a Disk Tools floppy, and boot from that to attempt formatting?

I should be able to crate a floppy from the CD since I have floppies and a drive but I don't know how.

Nevermind, Just found the disk tools image, creating a floppy now...
