I have a Disk II drive that reads well enough, but doesn't write and I can't format disks. I've checked the write protect switch, and I've read up on adjusting the speed of the drive via the potentiometers at R21 and R33... except my analog card does not have those potentiometers. The documentation I read suggested in that case that the analog card be replaced. Fair enough... but...
Is there another way? Either replacing capacitors, or chips, or something else that can be done to salvage what appears to be an otherwise perfectly working card? Seems like a waste.

how about inspecting threads about previous threads on the topic by using the "Search"-field in the upper right corner ?
just an idea....
if you would have used it and if you would have viewed previous related threads,
you would have surely come several times across the links to:

and if you would started reading along that pages following each other by links at the bottom...
well - you would then have probably recognized that not eyerything is related to the top analog board and
you would have gotten the knowledge to solve your problems....
it´s just the "i don´t know how many times to repeat" posting ( at least a dozend of times ) mentioning :
1) the search function
2) the link to the pages
and just besides because there are also other topics availiable:

the link to the basic entry page list a bunch of other topics too....

I most certainly did try the search at the top first, I'm not the kind of person who would post without doing that. My search terms must not have helped me or I missed the relevant information/links. It was simply my last effort to find help on the matter. I certainly didn't expect to be made to feel bad about it.
I don't come here often so I don't know how annoying this particular topic may be or how often it comes up. But if it's a problem for you, I suggest making the information in that link a little easier to find.

if you performed a searh did not get correct listing it´s O.K......
It´s just rather boring that most newbies are to lazy to search and read previous
threads related to the DISK II.
In one fact i even agree to the critics....
i have made several times the proposal to create a kind of archive resulting from former threads
and containing a directory that lists links to pages with basic information
and a link added to line above looking like: Home, Forums, Basic Infopages, Contact
and
directory linked to by Basic Infopages containing a collection of best pages related to topics.....
but this idea does not seem to have much support....
i guess anyhow that after reading the pages i made about 2 years ago you will have all
detailed information to get your DISK II drive again running without troubles and adjusted for best possible performance....
