Help With TI Powerbook 500, OS 10.4.11, Original Airport Card, Trouble Connecting With Modern Secure Network

I have a Ti Powerbook 500, running OS 10.4.11, using the original Airport card, with Airport Update 2005-001. It is having trouble logging onto my wifi network with a WPA Personal level security code that works great with all of my other devices. It see's the network, gives me the option to log in, but says it can't connect. Any advice/hints? I searched the Apple Support pages for a new Airport update, but no joy there. Have I missed an update somewhere? I've just changed the wifi router, I hadn't done anything differently to the Mac. The Mac can connect to the network with an unsecured setting on the wifi device.

Some of the older Airport cards only support 64bit encryption, not the 128bit required for WPA and WPA2.

I believe it's the Rev C Airport card that was first to support 128bit. Can anyone else chine in here?

It's been a long time, but I think you're right. I have a few cards here, and the C revision says 128bits, the older ones do not. I would assume that means the encryption, but not sure?
See if you can check if your router is WPA2, if so, it will not work with that setting, try to change it to WPA and see if it works that way. If that doesn't work you could try WEP... I don't really keep up, but if security is an issue, I believe WPA2 is more secure than WPA. WEP from what I understand is very easy to break.

Thanks for the hints. I think that I need to get a tack on of some sort. Like a PCMCIA or USB 2.0 WiFi device. Any suggestions for ones that will work with this PowerPC Mac? The TiPowerbook 500 doesn't have USB 2, but I use a PCMCIA card that does, and it works great with everything so far.
