Integer ROMs

Is there something I'm missing with Integer ROMs on ebay these days? When I wasn't looking for them, the Integer ROM cards were going all day long for $65-100.. now I am and suddenly there are bidding wars on each and every card. This one I put in a bid at $150 and was outbid. Would I be best to just give in and buy the $49.99 ones on ebay? And are some worth more than others? Are they *that* rare?

Re: Integer ROMs

No they are not rare at all. But they are very desirable. As for $150 for a integer card that's not even tested? No way you should pay that much $.
For all you know it may not even work; or the Integer ROM's may have major static damage.
I would definitely wait for another card to come along. It will happen.

The $49 (a piece) chips are wayyy over priced man. You should be able to get a full card for about $100.
I admit I just recently sold one for $150; but it was fully tested at least.

Try asking Mike Willegal; He may have a set to sell you.

Re: Integer ROMs

Are they desirable because they can be harvested to restore an Apple II or just as an add on to a II+? I just don't understand why prices are going up so fast.

Just for my own knowledge.. my Apple II definitely would have come with Integer ROMs right? (Serial in the 38000s)

Re: Integer ROMs

I think the popularity with them now is to covert modified II back to Original and still be able to run II plus software by putting the AppleSoft ROMs on the card.

The major difference between a II ans II plus made on the same day is the ROMs. The serial number sticker and logo plate are all that differs.

Notice I said on the same day... This only holds true when comparing for example a January 1980 machine to another January 1980 machine. Apple evolved the II since it's introduction and there are major difference between say a first month production Apple II and an Apple II plus made in 1981.

And... Btw. I think 150 for a language card these days is a good deal. I do agree that it not being tested is a risk. I'd rather pay around $200 and get one tested... I recall paying last year about $200 for one tested.... Then again the previous year it might have only cost me $100. Prices are going up for working stuff and we all need to keep in mind what we though was really expensive in the past might be normal now....

Cheers,
Corey
