Japanese Symbols on Motherboard
I recently acquired an Apple IIe. While looking at the motherboard, I noticed that all the markings seem to be double printed, once in green, then once over that in white, but slightly offset. I also noticed something else. Where it says "Apple IIe 1983" on the motherboard, it's printed correctly in white, but underneath in green, it says "リンゴ IIe 1983" Any idea what's going on here? I thought maybe it was normal, but I can't find anything about it.
Yes that might be real good idea ... but not only the part of the board with the related printing and etching - but also the "large chips" i.e. the chip that should be the IOU and the one that shall work as MMU because if the board is pirated, then the chips had to be pirated too and replaced by some kind of custom-programable chips....
I'm a little busy at the moment, but I got the motherboard out. Gonna get some pics up in a couple hours.
Interesting that they'd use the actual Japanese word for apple, ringo, on the board. Since it's the name of a company, logic would dictate that they'd phoneticize it the way they do other non-Japanese names, so it would be printed as アップル (apperu).

Look at edit modus when posting, to the commandsymbol above of editfield. Move mouse to first symbol with "sumrise" and follow instruction.... Tip: set width of picture to value of something between 350 and 450.....

Whatever happened to user image galleries? I notice mine has disappeared. I used to link to images in my image gallery to insert them in a post.
That is pretty funny about "ringo," and rather suspicious. It's very un-Japanese to put a translation of the word, especially of a trademark. Using Apple, either romanized or katakana, would be an important use of trademark prestige, like any other prestigious foreign product for the Japanese.
Could it be a clone or pirated motherboard? How about some pics?
