Hmm, … is the 6502 CPU $2399 worth?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/201322514339
It has a signature of 'somebody', forgive me for not being UP on the Apple as I should...
Jay and all,
You're absolutely right.
It's like the guy with the (now) $10,400.00 Mac IIci.
I keep wanting to ask him how his head feels after beating it against the wall
for so long?
He just refuses to realize that a used Mac IIci will just not sell for that price.
Another subject...
Has anyone heard of a show on FYI Channel called "Garage Gold"?
I for one have never heard of it, but the guys who (supposedly)
are part of the show have "an item" up for auction:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Apple-ii-Plus-Vintage-Model-A2S1048-with-two-Disk-II-Drives-/121611752976?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1c50a01610
This baby is a hack and a half if I've ever seen one, and
they want almost $400.00 for it.
In the meantime, here are two more interesting items:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1979-APPLE-II-A2SI-20570-EXCELLENT-WORKING-COMPUTER-ROM-IO-PRINTER-CARD-/351360433024?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item51ceb6bb80

Holy Batcrap Ratman!

It's a IIe!
It's not new!
Someone has to be out of their mind.

The Apple II possibly sold because of the APPLE BOX... still a high price, and didn't include manuals did it?
The Printer is Claimed to be NEW. Comes with the box as well, even if its not pictured. I once considered buying a printer, until I figured out you could print the code with an emulator...
http://www.ebay.com/itm/131470603947
but you get 5% ! reduction ! LOL
OK Folks, Hold on to your hats!
Ready?

Un-Freakin' believable!
I asked the seller if he were serious, and if he had done a search of all Apple IIc units to
see what the going prices are. He told me that my comments were "Inappropriate".
Oh, but he did thank me for my service.
Nice of him.
And another goodie:

Steven
I don't post here often, but I just HAD to say WOW to that Powerbook 5300!
And on top of that, the bloody thing is barely worth $50 nowadays, no? (I haven't checked the vintage PowerBook market lately).
c
CC_33,
I have picked them up for as little as $20.00.
That includes all the accessories and carry bag.
Good evening all,
This is not laughable, but it is interesting:

There is one more:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Apple-External-SCSI-Hard-Drive-146GB-RARE-Vintage-Macintosh-Upgrade-M2603-M2604/321662403364
Interesting "SCSI" card http://www.ebay.com/itm/Apple-II-SCSI-amp-Fingerprint-Card-/141632670743
Who knew, a printer card can run an SCSI drive! Also notice in the description he says "The SCSI port works". Yea right lol.
Check this out:

Price is $1500 higher than the last time he had it listed! So now he wants $6000 for a //c with some software & original boxes. This //c auction totally defines this thread.
HaHa you don't like my auction? Just curious, what would you guys appraise my collection at?
It's hard to say, but I would estimate the whole collection as a single purchase at around $800. But that's just me. The problem is, too much of it is untested and possibly not really viable any more (the printer is a case in point). As well, a single buyer may not see any value in many of the items and each potential buyer would have a different idea on what is useful and what is not. I'd say if you split up the items and auctioned them off individually you would get a lot closer to your goal of $2K. Also, put in some time to test everything. You have everything you need to do these tests and it should not take more than 2 to 4 hours. A tested and functioning item is worth a whole lot more that an untested item.
If your talking about the //c, then it wont sell for more than $1500. I'm basing the price off the fact that a sealed new in box //c sold for around $2000 not too long ago. Even with the original boxes and all the software, its just not worth $6000. Honestly you would be better off listing the software & joysticks in several separate listings. And then try and sell the computer/drives together in an auction. You will make more money that way.
Check out the completed listings:

you cannot be serious...can you?
Steven
Hello Steven,
i fear he is.....
i just explained several weeks ago, that insane offers from a bunch of guys - drag the other lemmings to follow....
he just follows the rest of the bunch....
and nobody seems to followup your advice to first examine those insane offers to checkout if
they really collected the demanded price ....LOL
I just lean back and watch....
and for sure - someone is happy and clapping the hands for such insane demands...:
EBAY !
insane demands >>> cause insane fees....
speedyG
Only if the item is actually sold. But with these prices there is no deal (usually). The sellers can simulate selling with someone they know and after that they cancel it and fees are accordingly deducted...
Good afternoon All,
I just don't get it.
Apple IIc units are kinda like the Model T Ford of the Apple II line.
There are a lot of them out there.
They're very utilitarian and pedestrian in many respects.
Don't get me wrong...I'm not saying they're not good computers,
I happen to have over a dozen of them (and IIc Plus units) here at home.
It's my favorite.
I do know that DrKenB started this trend of buying, cleaning, and selling IIc's for over $100.00 each on eBay
and he has been edging the prices up over the last couple of years.
Other sellers are, sadly, following his lead, but usually asking for more, and they don't
treat their IIc's like he treats his.
It may just be the fact that I am getting older and I'm not seeing the "Forest for the trees". lol
I know that I, myself, can go up and find IIc units, that are in half way decent condition,
that I can clean up myself and spend less than $50.00 for a unit.
A couple of years ago they were $15.00 to $25.00 per unit.
For the $6,000.00 that dmich is asking for his IIc, I could buy (approximately) 125 IIc's, by themselves.
For the same amount, I could buy 100 complete IIc systems (Monitor, Printer, etc.).
Software is a different story as it fluctuates all the time depending on what it is and condition.
I guess this is "Progress".
Steven
And having said all that I just picked this up from Steve Buggie:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/321710365852?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
Nice!
Steven
Steven, I have to disagree about DrKenB: although he sells good stuff, lots of his //c's are painted or bleached where the labels are lost, and other parts are very yellowed still. Also he asks for outrageous prices, that's why he keeps listing them over and over for years.
Regarding that //c collection, I can buy all items individually for less than $600. It's a nice collection but the color monitor for example is not the //c but the platinum, so not a true //c collection.
Cheers
Javster.
There is something strange going on with this Ramworks III card.
Click on the other pictures.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/301591605221
I think its tough to De-Yellow plastic. It can be done quite well for an individual doing a one-off as a project, but for a person to 'buy' a unit, spend enough time to clean it, but too much time to be extremely fussy and then also turn a profit, its a tight walkrope. Then the fact that most people already have the 'computers' and limited market, its rough for a guy like Ken, at least Apple II wise.
insanitor,
That's because its not a RAMWORKS III? lol
Steven
Here's one for $65, buy-it-now.
OH NO!!!! Another eBay Seller, the Victim of Bait-and-Switch!!!!!
( Should we tell them, "they have been had"?? )
MarkO
just another reseller without bare knowledge about the apple hardware...
he should have recognized just by comparing picture on the box with card to discover
that the card is not related to the box and its content.....
even a view inside the manual would have explained that too....
it seems that at nowadays schools we are advancing to analphabetic future...
sigh
speedyG
Right.
The seller says, "The card will be well packed in a strong box with anti-static plastic wrap and bubble wrapping."
Why say this? Perhaps if the only other alternative is, "The card will be well packed in a strong box with anti-static plastic wrap and inside a nuclear warhead."
nice dispute...
but i contacted the seller in the meantime and he recognized his mistake and splitted the offer
up to two offers:
the IIe 80 col card still at the old link but with drastic reduced demand
and without the box....
and the box of the RAMworksIII with its contents in a seperate offer:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/RamWorks-III-Applied-Engineering-512K-RAM-Expansion-Memory-Card-BOX-CONTENTS-/291430886834?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item43daa26db2
so it just turned out what i guessed that it´s again just a reseller without knowledge to the topic
of Apple II hardware....
sometimes a seller accepts given advice....
( not each time about price - told him to expect for the card probably 20 bucks....
and i told him i´d recommend to make the box simple offer and just watch at which price it might be sold
because there are several owner´s of RAMworks III cards without a box that might have interest )
the one´s to keep here in dispute are those resellers and sellers that are
"advice-resistant", or that even shoutback bad replies like "you can´t tell me anything"...
speedyG
Because... sometimes, sellers don't? And it's a differentiator when they know they should? It would stink to get a printed circuit board shipped bare in a manilla envelope. You never know if they don't tell you...
Actually I had a pretty rare S100 card shipped to me in a bubble wrap envelope. Was kinda pissed after I spent $400 on the card. Lucky it arrived in good shape. Could have been otherwise. The problem is with a lot of this vintage stuff, you can't easily replace it. If this was an iPod or something modern that was poorly shipped, easy enough. But a nearly 40 year old artifact. Not easy when things go bad.
Cheers,
Corey
I recently had a piece of rack mount test equipment shipped to me in a decent oversided box, with the test equipment wrapped in bubble wrap inside of it. Unfortunately the shipper didn't have enough bubble wrap and the bubble wrapped test equipment was loose, bouncing around inside of the box the whole way. Fortunately, no bent or broken critical components, just bent sheet metal, which I was able to straighten out to some degree. Over the years, I've had a number of shipments like this, as well as items sold as working, that definitely had issues. As far as eBay goes, I've strictly become a bottom feeder. I pretty much look for bargains on equipment that the seller admits to having problems with. As long as all the parts are there, your odds of getting something that works or is easily repairable is about the same as buying something advertised as "fully functional".

Mike Willegal

Georgel.
So this guy wants almost $150.00 for a card that I can get for about $25.00?
Yup! That is laughable.
Steven
http://www.ebay.com/itm/391114072078
well georgel,
at least he published in his text: "......Item may or may not function "
viewing the cutoff rest of the cable at the rearside it will rather more be the second part of the statement....
and he included that uncovering picture not upfront - but rather in the later hidden part of the pictures....
so its a candidate for this months:
"I´m searching a stupid ebay newbie, who´s too lazy to view the entire content of the offer....
then i can refuse a refund..."
perfect candidate for this thread... LOL

http://www.ebay.com/itm/BRAND-NEW-Uthernet-Ethernet-Adapter-Card-for-Apple-II-IIe-IIGS/251911057517
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-Apple-IIe-Platinum-vintage-Apple-Computer-model-A2S2128/121617984811
Whom ever paid $530.00 for that Uthernet Card
is absolutely insane!
A batch of new ones (Uthernet II)is due out
this summer at about 1/5th the price this guy paid.
I have two of them squirrelled away,
maybe I should sell one for $750.00?
I just might get it. lol

http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Applied-Engineering-Datalink-2400-MODEM-EXC-COND-in-box-for-apple-II-IIe-IIgs-/201332744498?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2ee05de132
I bought this exact item also in box for $20+shipping. I hope someone buys it for that price and i will sell mine for that price also!
Holy crap talk about over priced man! It's just a modem lol.
But I will give this seller credit, he's got a really nice Video Digitizer from computer eyes that's reasonably priced. Last one of these I saw on ebay sold for just over $300. His price seems reasonable considering, plus he has a best offer option. If I was still looking for one of these cards I would jump on it... It's one of the coolest cards I own for my //gs.
... and for your viewing pleasure, seller identifies this as a Platinum Apple IIe..
It's a Stealth Platinum.. ( No Apple Labels )
MarkO
Dorkbert,
We all know it's a clone.
He just hasn't caught up to us yet.
And now on to the dmich saga...
I do not know just how to describe his pricing, so here is a list of what he has for auction:
http://www.ebay.com/sch/dmich1350/m.html?item=251926146847&hash=item3aa7f7ef1f&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2562
Personally, I think a $100.00 minimum for a Disk IIc is just a bit much.
$40.00 to $55.00...maybe. $100.00... nope!
Steven
For everyone who is interested in buying an Apple IIe:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/APPLE-IIe-II-E-2E-COMPUTER-UNIDISK-FLOPPY-APPLE-PRINTER-MONITOR-M0100-MOUSE-/111651547772?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item19fef36a7c
Yes! Sell it to me right now!
I cannot live without this IIe!
Beat Me. Kick Me. Make me feel Cheap!
Make me open my checkbook and spend my money!
I just don't think so. LOL
Steven
OH!
Here is an oddity.
A 1978 Apple IIgs:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-1978-APPLE-IIGS-COMPUTER-A2S6000-/221750390080?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item33a15a6d40
You just don't see those every day you know. lol
Can you notice any difference?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Apple-II-SCSI-Card-Revision-C-Apple-II-IIe-IIGS-/251928495021
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Apple-II-SCSI-Card-Revision-C-Apple-II-IIe-IIGS-/251911367910
Nope. I guess the buyer didn't come through?
To verify that seller's superior knowledge of the Apple II...
You see the disk drives on top of that IIgs might have been made in 1978 so that's why the computer is from 1978.
The Disk II Controller card always goes into slot 1. We can see this in the pictures so now we know that this seller knows his stuff!
Well, at least that seller added the comment that he may be wrong about the year of manufacture!
(can't change an auction title or description once there are bids, so a comment has been added to the bottom)
