Smartport Virtual Hard Drive for Apple IIc
Navigation on the web found this project: a virtual drive for the Apple //c, that uses a USB as storage. Anybody can tell me more about it? impressions, comments?
Kind regards

I agree, Mutant Pie. If it could be a pass trough device on the back would be better, maybe something like the video adapter, as you just plug it and forget it.Still very interesting.

Unless Rich Dreher comes up with a CFFA for the IIc, this is the unit I plan on getting when I have the funds available.

I agree Steve. I don't see Rich doing something for the IIc so I'll just wait to get this when I can. I do like the CFFA3000 and hopefully the SPVHD will be as good as the CFFA3000.

Any updates on this? Looks promising.
I have one on order.
Good deal! Let me know how well it works once you get it in.
Jegs,
I don't expect it until sometime in the summer, so it may be a while.
In the mean time - you can use the serial version now.

When he gets it done and fully working it might be beautiful. It doesn't need the clock, as a NoSlot Clock will do the same job (I think).
While I understand emulating the look of a //c drive, my personal preference would have been if he had made it the smallest package possible, a hard plug that goes into the Smartport, and has a receptacle for the USB drive.
$90 euros for the finished deal. Probably worth it. Again, how much cheaper would it be having skipped the clock and the elaborate housing? Maybe for version 2.0...
