CC Internal SCSI Not Working

I just bought a CC. The internal 80mb drive didn't work, SCSI probe doesn't show it. I pulled the the drive and dropped in a good 2.1 gig Segate. Still nothing shows up in SCSI Probe. The drive powers up but doesn't seem to be on the SCSI bus.

The external SCSI port works just fine. I was able to boot from a couple of external SCSI hard drives.

What should I check next? Any ideas? Since the SCSI controller works for external drives (SCSI Probe shows them but ID 0 is empty) I assume that the SCSI contoller is fine.

How is internal termination set?

That's a rare problem. . . .

Internal termination is not provided other than on the drive, so that's the first thing to check on the 'known good' drive. If that's OK, I'd suspect the cabling. The SCSI cabling is part of the main loom, so it's not a straight cable switch. :-(

Scsi

Hum. I've never terminated an internal drive before but I will try that. My 2.1 gig drive is NOT terminated.

I'll also test the 80mb in an external case to see if it was terminated.

This is the first time that I've cracked open a CC. I guess I'll have to pull the analog board to check it all out. Thanks for the help.

You can slide the HD out without fully removing the a/b

Just slide the a/b back a little and it will lift enough to remove most HDs.

Instructions for setting termination are on most manufacturers web sites.

I used to have a 4 gig SCSI in my Mystic working fine, but when I upgraded the CC to a Takky using a 630 board rather than the 575, the system would simply lock up on boot-up. If I kept the SCSI drive disconnected, it would continue booting (i.e. from an external CD drive). Had something to do with asynchronous transfer or something like that.
