New Hard Drive

Just bought a used 40gb hdd for my iMac and my pc recognises it fine, but my iMac doesnt at all. When i am doing the tiger install, when it asks me which drive i want to install it to, it is just blank. I have tried setting it to master and slave and nothing is making any difference. Please help!

Disk Utility

On the Tiger install DVD, there should be an option in one of the menus to open Disk Utility. Open that and see if you can format the new drive.
