Power Book 5300c HD Install??

I just got a 4.0GB hard drive for my apple powerbook 5300. I installed it and i showed up on the desktop with the help of DiskTools #2. I shut it down to finish putting the case screws back in, when i started it up again all I got was blue screen I did't even hear any disk noise with eather the hardDrive or the floppyDrive. I rechecked everything and also did a reset with the button on the back. now the only way to get a tone and the blue screen is to use the reset button!!!! Anybody know what i mite have done wrong???
I reinstalling the HD, still no spinup on the HD or the floppy!!
