High activity and server down

Other Computers

A few thousand unexpected guests brought the server down last evening. Unfortunately, usage logs are one of the first things to get cut when trying to keep the server up, so I'm not sure where everybody came from.

Anybody notice an Applefritter link on a major site?

No Clue

A search of CNN, Time, The New York Times and Slashdot brought up nothing.
Could it have been a DoS attack?

I noticed that too...

No links on major sites that I can find, but most people would like heavy traffic to their site. (Are you going to update some of your hardware soon to alow more traffic?). Searches for mac hacks on google oand other searches bring up applefritter quite alot.

Reading does not kill

Server hardware problems. TO posted a story on it. New server is on its way which should be a major upgrade.

You'd think

that someone would offer to mirror the site...

I know I would, if someone would come show me how to work these boxes!

It was macslash

There was a post on macslash that asked about moding an Ibook into a desktop. There was a link to the Inotebook mod. Evil

Macslash

While it didn't help the server was crashing before the iNotebook was Macslashed.
