DELL Laptop Problem

My Dad's Dell Latitude CPi D266XT laptop has Windows 2000 on it, and it will login fine, but the icons will not appear. If I press CTRL + ALT + DELETE the task manager comes up and I can start a new task from there, but that is VERY annoying. If anyone has a fix for this stupid problem, please post it. THANK YOU!!!!

start a new process

from the process manager, and type "Explorer.exe" and see if it comes up. Report back after that...

It Works!

That was the first thing that I tried, whenever I booted it up the first time and it worked.

It still will not work!

I messed with it for a while, and those dumb icons still will not come up, but explorer.exe will come up.

Time to reinstall Windows it would seem Eye-wink You can install a clean copy without erasing the existing files - although its a bit confusing to get the installer to do that.
