OS 9 iMac and Nomad II MP3 Player and what music app? iTunes, SoundJam?

OS 9 (only) iMac with a Creative Nomad II mp3 player.

I want to put in CDs and and convert them to mp3 files and use the appropriate application to get the music on the above mp3 player. Should I load a version of iTunes 1, 2, or 3 or use SoundJam or something else.

I've alwasys liked iTunes

Should be able to handle the Nomad with the proper extensions enabled in Extensions Manager.

That last version of iTunes for OS 9 was 2.0.4. It should still be downloadable at Apple.com, but you might have to really dig to find it. SoundJam is a good program too. I've used both of them with my Rio Mp3 players. Both work fine. SoundJam works in Classic in OS X. With OS X, I use SoundJam when I want to make Mp3's for my Rios, since the latest iTunes versions for X create Mp4's which are incompatible with Mp3 players. ITunes 2.0.4 only makes Mp3's too.

You can set any version of iTunes, even the newest ones, to encode to mp3.

Yeah, I figured you could make Mp3's with all iTunes, but I still like to use SoundJam instead just in order to keep my Mp3's easily findable in a seperate folder from the Mp4's. I can always import them into iTunes if I want them there too. I make a lot of recorded books and that kind of stuff into Mp3's so I don't want those mucking up my iTunes library.
