Let me just start by saying that I love my ibook. I love everything about it except the screen resolution. I love higher resolutions! I am wondering if there is any way that I could buy a replacement screen that would work with my ibook and support higher resolutions. Does anybody know any good LCDs that would work with an iBook G3 600mhz model? Thanx!

To put it simply, no, what yo

To put it simply, no, what you ask is impossible.

If you want a higher-resolution screen, buy a new laptop.

(Sorry to be a buzzkill, but this question, or one like it, is asked on a weekly basis around here.)

An alternative. . . ?

Does this model have a VGA or DVI out connector? If so the solution is to buy an compatible external monitor of what ever resolution you can, and use it.

iBook only supports mirroring on the second monitor (by default anyway. There is a patch, but it tends to overheat the video circuitry, and I put that at least partly to blame for the death of my own iBook 700.). And only at 1024x768 max resolution (even with the patch).

The issue is as much with the video chip as with the LCD.

We've seen this done with a G4 PowerBook. Installing a higher resolution screen did function, but the PowerBook just continued on at it's native resolution and left garbled areas in the display outside that size.
