It's Snowing!

Remember Outdoors

It's snowing. Snowing hard. we have about an inch already, and they are still calling for 6 to 12 inches by nightfall. My evening class has been cancelled, and there is a chance of the restaurant opening late (which would mean a day off for me, as i work early shift).

Yeah, I never finished my post, lol. They lowered the amont of snow down to about 1-1 1/2'.

I heard someone say this once, about being in New England...

"If you don't like the weather, wait a minute, it'll change."

Nothing here...

Just rain and 40-50 degree temps... gah, I hate this... Sad

Jon, amazing. Did you take that photo yourself? Is that a thin sheet of snow between the links? Is it more ice than snow? I've never seen snow on a chain link fence, but then, I haven't seen snow since I was 17.

We got snow here as well, about a 1.5 feet, but of course classes weren't cancelled. Still snowing though, hopefully the roads will not be plowed and completely covered tonight so the car clubs around here can go for a drive.

Got a high-res version of that pic? That would make for an awesome desktop background.

thank got I got that Ariens Snow Blower. Cost us ~ $1,200 but it was worth it. Cuts through the snow/ice like a hot knife through butter Smiling

Its a nice and sunny 70 degrees here in Santa Cruz, CA. Smiling

I live in Denver, CO

so I have no pity for the east coast Smiling We've had snow constantly for 2 months!

By the way, snow blowers emit a high level of CO2, so be careful. In fact, it's more environmentally friendly to drive 400 miles than to run a snowblower for an hour- those things are baaaaad!

Yea those engines are very very in-efficient, unless you own a honda, they seem to be the ones with the good ideas :-D

Oops, I just spent about an hour and a half outside with my Ariens from about 1984. Its a tough cookie though, and got the job done.

wooohooo!

Honda anything rocks Smiling I bought a 2007 CR-V back in November. It's exempt from emissions for 10 years!

Snow??

Just a few flurries here for about 20 minutes but darn cold in Weatherford, Tx, 25 degrees outside at 5pm

Everything honda makes except cars rock. The CR-V is almost great, except for its poor AWD system. The new civic type R is pretty awesome though.
Their 4 cycle engines are pretty efficient though, most newer 4 cycle snow blower engines aren't too terrible anymore. The industrial ground roller we had at my old job is another story.

Yes I did, with my low-end Nikon L4. I snapped it in the early morning light, luckily just before the winds picked up and blew a lot of the snow off of the fence and trees. It was a thick and clumping snow that fell right after a lot of cold rain. The rain didn't really freeze before the snow fell, or the snow absorbed it, as there wasn't much of an ice sheet underneath it except in the streets. It was about 3-4 inches thick ad it fell with little or no wind so it built up very nicely on stuff.

I've still got a pic that Dr. Bob posted of the leaky LN2 tank a the Apple labs a while ago in my random background folder. I guess it'd be nice to post something in return, eh?

It's day two of cancelled classes. I looked out my window this morning and saw this outside. The writing amused me.

Holy snit

Wow, im glad we didn't get THAT much snow. We got just a few inches here, which then promptly froze into one solid block of ice. Shoveling it was quite difficult.
