Install applications on system 6 without expander
Hi, i need help.
i don´t have any expander on my system 6.0.8 and i want install one, but i can't do it because i need the expander to do this. What should i do? application files appear like text document.
I've tried with disk copy 4.2, but can't read hqx, sit, sea and bin. Only the disk images from mac (ex: system 6, hd installer)
Not sure if System 6 can read zip or cd drives myself... I'd suggest a program called "Split It!".. I know it worked on System 7 at least, it allowed you to break up a particular file into 800k or 1.4mb chunks which would fit on formatted floppies, then transfer everything, and use the program on the receiving computer's end to piece them back togeter. I'd assume you'd probably be looking to put Stuffit expander on the system 6 machine... I dunno if stuffit runs on system 6, but I guess now is as good a time as any to find out

I use to have stuffit on my system 6, but i've used the 40 MB hard disk for a sampler and i loss all the data. now i have system 6.0.8 recently installed from apple floppy images, and i have lot of apps but without the expander, nothing works
I'm going to try these apps on a friend's mac to see what happens, and expand the expander there.

and hook the current one up through Serial, you could transfer it over local talk. Just before you transfer, unarchive the installer.
Or rather, I dunno if the machine does SCSI (my bet is that it does) get yourself a cheap Zip or get an external SCSI CD-ROM and make an HFS Disc to transfer it.
