How Do I Convert .dsk Images Back To .bin files?

Hi, I'm wanting to convert some .dsk images back into .bin files. Is there an easy program I can use with Windows Xp or with my Apple IIe/IIc to convert/unpack them back to .bin? Any help is really appreciated! Thanks ~Drew

What's .bin?

What's your intended destination? What do you mean by .bin? Do you mean compressed ShrinkIt archive like .sdk? .dsk images are already in a native form, so there isn't really anything to revert them "back" to...

Converting disk images

Greetings,

Are you intending to make the disk images runnable on a real Apple II? If so you don't need to convert them to binary files you simply need to use ADTPro to transfer the .dsk image to a real 5.25 disk in your Apple II.

How Do I Convert From Disk Image To Binary?

I know how to use ADT, but what I want to do is add multiple games to one disk. Like when you see a disk compilation with multiple games to choose from with a boot menu a,b,c,d - 1,2,3,4, etc. When you just transfer a game .dsk image with ADT it takes up an entire 5.25 disk. I know how to make menus and want to add multiple games to a disk like the ones you see on Asimov Apple Ftp site under Games/File Based. For example, there is a disk with Pacman, Mrs. Pacman, Superpacman etc..all on one disk as binary files with a bootup loader menu where you can choose from what games you want to play. Now if I just transferred say a Pacman .dsk image I could not make a boot menu like the Beautiful Boot menu for example, and I also could not add any other games to the disk or they would write over the first one. To make a disk with your own game compilation and menu you have to have the games as binary files or they won't even show up in the boot menu. There has to be a way to do so, because I own lots of disks I have bought with multiple games on them as binary files that use a boot menu. If anyone knows how to convert Apple II game .dsk images into binary files or how you get Apple II games as binary files I would really appreciate it! On the game .dsk images On Apple II FTP site Asimov, Under File Based games, almost all of the game disks in that folder have disk images that have all binary game files on them. I just don't know how they made the game files as binaries .bin to begin with.
Thanks For Any Help! ~Drew

Ah, ok, you want to extract f

Ah, ok, you want to extract files off of one disk image and put them back on another. There are utilities to do just that:

CiderPress: http://ciderpress.sourceforge.net
Apple Commander: http://applecommander.sourceforge.net/
FishWings: http://mysite.verizon.net/charlie.d/FishwingsInfo.htm

If you have a PC, CiderPress or FishWings is your best bet. If you have a Mac, Apple Commander is capable.

Another Mac OS X extraction program

Greetings,

Here's another program you can use to copy files between disk images under Mac OS X.

ADFS Carbon: http://www.lazilong.com/apple_II/adfs/

according to the web site it's still just in alpha phase but you can download it and run it. It works great for me.
