Apple IIe Platinum Laptop

I have an Apple IIe Platinum without a case and I have an idea for a new one that I need to check if its possible to make one according to my idea. The case would be like that of a Power book 100, and would be operated off batteries. Not only that, but it would have an LCD screen. Any ideas?

Try and see if you can connect a smaller keyboard to the system, the original keyboards are huge. Insert an internal 3.5 inch floppy to the system, that would be cool. Well overall, it sounds like I'm describing and apple IIc+.

why dont you get a apple IIc+

I agree. But the advantage of having a IIe is that you can have a num. pad and the system has expansion slots. And you can also read audio tapes. Oh, that reminds me, you should make an internal cassette player mounted on the side or something, that would be cool.

Considering a whole PowerBook 100 is considerably smaller then an Apple IIe motherboard that's going to be quite a feat.

Any LCD TV should take the signal, if it has a composite input.

Or you could consider a luggable hack with a small CRT TV. Then you could leave in enough space for access to at least some of the expansion slots.

Interesting hack idea. I have been considering
such a project for a long time, but don't know
how to squeeze the hardware into such a compact
space/case. Instead I got an Apple //c. Still
looking for a compatible LCD screen for the //c.

Just started designing

I realized that to keep all the cards in it without having it be 1' tall,
i would have to have some kind of adapter to tilt them sideways. I would look like a power book 100 cosmetically. Having be like a power book 100 size wise would be a nightmare of a hack! I was considering putting a cassette drive on it, then again, how are you going to get software on the cassette and how will you load the software fast? I was also so considering using a Apple IIc, but then again, you cant eaxpand it or have a num pad.

You might be better off using

You might be better off using a IIgs board. It's got a number of the cards you'd want built in plus you could use a small ADB keyboard.

You could always do the same thing I did. Buy a Playstation LCD, original Playstation not PS2, and then use an RCA to 3.5 converter cable to plug the video from the IIc into the LCD. Make sure you also get the Sony 7.5 volt power supply for the LCD. Once you plug in the power and the converter cable as soon as you turn on the IIc the LCD will come on and there you go.
