ram for 2.33 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo

well would like to put the most ram in it. but have three gigs in it now. one single stick and two stick for three gigs. it only reads three gigs? and was wondering if i could put 4 gigs in it? is it a wast of money. nobody seems to know? dose anybody know if?let me know please. Thank You. its for a 2.33 Ghz Intel Core 2 duo. has any body put 4gigs in there's? and what happened.LET ME KNOW PLEASE.

I believe if you put 4gb in there, it will only see 3, so yah you're wasting money if you put in 4. I have the 2.16GHz model and it already has a 1gb stick in it, so I was going to buy one of these 2gb sticks and just having it in there along with the 1gb to make 3.

RAM for 2.33G MBP 17

I also have a MBP which has the 3G ram limit. I was wondering if anyone has upgraded from 2 to 3 and what were the performance results? The same for 2 to 4. It was suggested to me there might improvement in some places and loss in others on the first scenario due to the mis-matched ram causing the system to not be able to use interleaving. In the other, what are the possible and/or real results (other than spending money on something you can't fully use) with a matched pair of 2s.

Well I took mine from 1Gb to 3Gb and I guess it was worth it. Its nice to be able to run Dashboard all the time without it slowing things down. I'm really not a huge RAM advocate. I think its nice, but it doesn't work the magic some people seem to believe it does. At least not for what I do. That said, RAM for these things is cheap enough, if you have a few spare bucks, why not?
