Possibly in need of a Logic Board replacement

I was using my ibook G4 when the screen began flashing colors. I turned it off, but then it will not turn back on. The fan will turn on, but it will freeze in the middle of trying to log in. The apple store told me that I might need a new logic board. Are there other possible problems that anyone knows of?
