eMachine Monitor blank

Hey People! This looks to be simple, but no one at eMachine was able to help. When power cycle of the computer or monitor, the screen illuminates for only about a second, then goes blank. With another monitor and computer, I've confirmed that CPU and cable are good. It's definitely the monitor. Before I begin to either finish breaking it trying to fix it before I trash it, I was hoping to get some help. Anyone???

Check that the brigtness/contrast are set to viewable levels.
