Phone Suggestions for AT&T

Can't go wrong with the Ericsson. I have had several over the years, my last (a z500a) was battered beyond belief and still continued to deliver superior performance to any other phone in my opinion.
I understand the next model up even had bluetooth.

Thanks "themike" I wrote it down to take it with me to the store. As for the iPhone, I can't afford it. My wife doesn't need something with that many bells and whistles.

What I want is something that sounds as good or as good as possible as my landline phone. We have dropped long distance and use the cell to make those calls all the time. Our current cell makes it a chore.

Anyone else?

Generally, you'll want to stay away from Motorola. Back in the StarTAC days, they were good phones, but they're utter crap now.

Personally, I wouldn't give up my BlackBerry Pearl for anything (even an iPhone). Probably overkill for your needs, but the hardware is surprisingly durable and the OS is easy to use and stable.

I'll vouch for Sony-Ericcson phones as well. The software is very easy to use, the voice quality is good, and the battery life is very, very good. My T610 lasts for over a week on a charge.

I am in need of upgrading my phone, a Nokia 6102. The ear piece is a bit odd, requiring that you have it 'just so' next to your head, but other than that, I like it.

What I really like, though, is my wife's Nokia 6126. It has a very comfortable feel, rests easy both in hand and on ear. Good display, and the ability to add a MicroSD card for more storage.

Just my opinion, though. I've heard great things about the Sony Ericcson phones, and good things about LG's.

That is what I have...a 6102. I agree totally about the earpiece. Getting to be a real pain. This is the phone I got for free with the two year extension on my plan. Boo.

About LG's...I have heard the opposite. It seems that all the complaints I have heard are from middle aged people with high frequency loss hearing. Which I fall in that category. Too much Sabbath years ago.

Well ever since i started working for at&t i have been giving every phone offered.
DO NOT DO THE NEW SONY. It has the spring track over the keypad so it will crack the keys themselves with the slightest pressure. Instead use the following
Flip: Samsung 747 aka SLM. This one usually goes for around 100 after rebate has a 2mp camera video share, sdhc card slot great music app, fast net speeds.
Slider: LG Shine KU720. Just like the SLM this phone is perfect in just about every way. If anything at first the joystick is a little stiff but after about a week it gets easier. Even those it was taken off the packaging, the lg also has the same schneider lens as the variant in europe. and this phone is usually either 130 or 150 after rebate.
of course stay away from the winmos and blackberries the only one with a decent camera is the curve but with no data or text it is a waste.
