dsk to floppy

Apple II

Just bought a IIgs, should be here in a week or so. I've been using AppleWin but decided the real thing should be more fun. Anyhow, I would like to create some floppy's using some of the dsk images. Is there a way to do this ? TIA

Sure. You'll need a serial cable to connect the IIgs to your "modern" computer, and transfer software like ADT or ADTPro. I've got quite a bit of tutorial and other information on the ADTPro site here:
http://adtpro.sourceforge.net

Re: dsk to floppy

OK, very briefly, connect up the IIgs to the pc via the serial cable, start up ADT. Put a DOS3.3 formatted disk in the Apple 5 1/4" floppy drive, hit 'R' and specify a dsk file on the pc and the floppy on the gs. ADT will then copy the file from the pc and write it out to the floppy ? And, then I'll be able to run the software from the floppy ?

That's right. I'm assuming you have no software, or at least no ADT software down at the IIgs end, so you'd have to go through the bootstrapping process first to get ADT going on the IIgs.

You'll want to make sure (via emulator) that whatever .dsk you are interested in is actually bootable. But yes, once the image is written out to a physical floppy, it'll be usable in the real thing the same way it's usable on an emulator.

Re: dsk to floppy

Thank you, David.

Can't get much easier than that. Well, it would have been easier had I kept all the Apple stuff and not sold it all way back when ! :-)
