Hi All,
I hope that someone out there can help me with a problem i'm having on my Apple IIe. I recently aquired the computer from a friends loft. I think it had been there from some time. There was a bit of corrosion on some of the pins on the CPU and a few other chips. The computer didn't start when i got it. I replaced the CPU with one from a spare bbc micro as the processors are the same. To my suprise the computer started up. I was able to run the self diagnostic test and all seemed fine. The PSU then went pop(usual caps problem). i replaced then blown caps and again all was well. I decided to leave the computer on for a while to do a soak test. I left the room only to come back to find i no longer had a picture on the screen. The computer was still on and i could run the self diagnotics as normal, it made the right noises but there was no picture. when i turn the compouter on the power light comes on and the computer beeps but no picture. The screen sort of flashes when i power the computer on. Does anyone know why the video output has failed?
thanks
beebman
Um , do you have a spare monitor to plug into too see if this is indeed the case? that's it's not the video plug connector from the motherboard itself going bad? try cleaning the connector real good? I would also try and reseat all the chips to the board and go from there.
thanks for the advise. i have tried reseating the chips and have checked the video connector as well as changing the monitor and still getting the same problem. if you have any other suggestions they would be greatly appriciated.
