Hooray! Yippee!!! Woo Hoo !!!! (I think...)

It is working! The VGA mod (see earlier posts) works! Okay, I have a deep pink/purple screen which is shaped like an hourglass and way off center, but at least I have video and not a black screen! Thanks to everyone who gave me advice!!

Now I'll go through Eric Neumann's pages. Anyone have any other advice? Does the pink/purple mean I still have more work to do on the connections/isolations?

You can work out those problems

You can work out that hourglass problem - and the color problem - by fiddling with that row of adjustment knobs situated behind that row of holes in the back of the chassis. Your description sounds similar to what I saw the first time I fired up my Takky. The biggest problem is you have to have a teeny tiny long-stemmed torx driver (size 7 or 8 or something) to stick through those holes to get to the knobs.

In my case I worked out all the color and almost all of the hourglass problem, but there's still a little bit of a zigzag near the top of the screen that I decided to live with. Good luck on yours!

I did all that and still have some distortion. Did you ever try the capacity solution posted here (http://www.colourclassicfaq.com/highres/barrel.html)

and did it work for you?
