Those are engineer prototypes made for testing fit of the components, etc... There is a lot of different colors I have seen in the prototypes. The colors I have seen are clear, light gray, light green, and even Red.
There was a transparent red Wallstreet G3 Powerbook on eBay a couple months ago that sold for about $300 if I remember correctly. That was the first of any Apple prototypes I saw in red.
