cell phone antenna

I'd like to use my cell phone at my desk in my house. If I hold it up to the window at just the right angle, I get a single dot of reception. It's a Motorola V66 with a removable antenna.

I'd like to build an antenna to hang out the window for it. Any advice on what would work best?

Count me in. I can only use my Motorola V300 in my living room. The walls in my building are so thick that even though there's a tower three blocks away, I barely get any signal.

What I'd *really* like is some kind of signal repeater--I could put an antenna outside my building and have it boost the signal indoors.

I have a feeling that Dr. Bob could shed quite a bit of light on this...

Ditto, I can only use my T630 in the kitchen to guarantee getting a signal. A repeater would be good.

Holy nuts!

I did a quick Google for "cell phone signal repeater" and all I'm finding are the following:

1. Those stupid, useless stickets you put on your phone to magically improve reception, and
2. $500 kits designed for commercial spaces.

This is looking discouraging...

if you are on cingular...

if you are on a gsm network and have a home phone cingular/att now too has an adapter to forward your calls to your homephone, just plug it in and it goes through your phone line. it doesn't use your minutes for the incoming calls and is easy and cheap that way. you can get it at a cingular store for about 25-30 bucks.

keep in mind you have to have the base right in that particular spot, and he said he wanted to use the cell phone, not the land phone
