Pentium 4 board for CC

That's just a standard laptop drive, so it'll work fine. All of the drives, whether optical or hard disk, that Apple has used in the past several years are just standard PC drives.

Here are some photos of my project... I am gonna use a slot load CD drive. I have the new Pisces analog board mated onto my old analog board (I removed all of the components from a dead analog board to make a board shelf). I had to cut a little of the shield for the anode cap thingee... The pictures say a lot. Any suggestions??

That's great work, Scott. I have a few questions. Where is the PSU? What type of PSU did you use? Have you figured out where the AC power plug will be? Is the hard drive in its original position?

I am going to use a power supply that fits... LOL... I am planning to use a small ATX power supply mounted to the left of the yoke basically where the fan used to be in the CC case. I am going to build a bracket. As for the hard drive... I plan to build a bracket and mount that on the other side of the case (the original hard drive side) but I am going to mount that on a bracket too. I want to use a full size hard drive because I can get a 7200 spin 8meg cache drive. An alternate place for the power supply will be underneath the analog board. I am looking at shuttle power supplies. I plan to use a full size slot load CD like the one on stuarts page CD in CC.

I was surprised how small an ATX power supply circuit board was when dismantled. If you find it hard to fit, try mouting it without the chasis. It will almost certainly fit Btw, it might be more dangerous without the grounded case + emi shielding, but as your working around the CRT electronics then i'm sure you know what your doing.

Well, just an update. I got the 10" trinitron to run in 640 ,800, and 1024 modes (60hz) and 47 something Hz interlaced. It looks good. I have just received my mounting straps for the ATX power supply (sparkle mini) that will fit to the left of the yoke (as you look at the back). I also have a nice bracket for a laptop drive and am installing an 80Gig 8MB cache 7200 laptop drive. (woot). I still need to come up with some cooling options but I am well underway and am almost finished with what I think will be the fastest CC for a while (2.6 GHz Intel 512 RAM, 80GB drive). I will post pictures when I get some things cleaned up a bit in this machine.

Well, my project CC is done.. I need to add some cooling fans but I am done building. It includes:
MSI 650GLMS mainboard, 512 MB Ram, 40GB Laptop Drive, 40X slot load CD, Sparkle mini atx power supply and a Pisces DM-10 monitor..... I will post inside pictures when able and if anyone is interested in how I shoved all this in the case.

Did I understand one of your earlier posts that said you were able to get 1024 x 768 resolution on the Pices monitor? What refresh rates did you get at that resolution? Was the quality good? I didn't know the Pices could go that high.

Yes, the DM10 does run in 1024 mode and it is well, okay. Not awesome but OK and it is easily tweaked with the knobs to get a good looking rectangle... however, it runs in like 43Hz interlaced.... 800x600 is GOOD with generic drivers but doesn't run in this PC with the SIS chipset drivers for onboard video. I have no idea why. Also, I get a mild hum bar (like a lot of em) running up the monitor when the sparkle ATX power supply is so close to the electron gun.

I tried to get 1024 on my DM-10, but the correct refresh rate doesn't show up in any control panel. 1024x768@any refresh rate given under SwitchRes didn't work. Maybe it's a Mac thing. I don't think I've ever seen 43hz! Ouch. I don't think it would be very practical.

I also got the dm10 running at 85Hz but it was wierd... very wierd and I was not able to tweak it to make it look right.. I am going to try more resolutions tonight... I use vnc (www.realvnc.com) so I can see what I am doing from my main machine while the monitor is wigged out.
