Playing your songs in ABE

I actually found this out a while ago, but forgot to post it.
Fuelled by annoyance at the soundtrack (well mainly Pop Pop Pop actually Blum 3 ) I decided to find a way of changing the music in the game. Here it is:

1. Open iTunes

2. Apple-click on the Airburst Extreme icon in your dock to open its folder

3. Go to the 'Audio' folder

4. Drag a song out of the iTunes window into the Audio folder (eg. Evil.mp3).

5. Copy the filename of one of these Airburst songs:
abxt-makesomenoise.mp3
AirBurst_YouFly.mp3
century.mp3
fire.mp3
jumpatit.mp3
panic.mp3
Pop_Pop_Pop.mp3 (yessssssssss)
retune.mp3
SSG.mp3

6. Change the filename of the original song to something else, eg. SSG orig.mp3
7. Paste the filename of the original song (SSG.mp3) onto your song, so Evil.mp3 -> SSG.mp3
8. Repeat for all in the above list
9. That's it!
10. If you want to change the songs again, quit Airburst and replace the ones you put in, eg. SSG.mp3. You don't need to touch the originals

Have you updated to the new version of Airburst Extreme btw ? It fixes the bug that makes Pop Pop Pop play all the time.

We actually had a script that lets you switch to your own playlist in-game, but it caused some problems with potentially triggering a security request on some users' Macs (as it could be running an applescript for the first time, but with the game in fullscreen) so we disabled it. The script itself is actually still in the scripts folder and we've left the source of the scripts in there so people can tweak them to suit whatever audio player they use.

Yes I have, it's just that it is a bit of an annoying song, and I much prefer my own music.

Ah cool. Looking at the source, I'm assuming I have to put them in a playlist called Airburst Extreme. I'll try this, sounds cool. Do I have to have iTunes open when I open Airburst Extreme?

At the moment the script is disabled from ABE as it caused some problems in final testing for the game. (we were doing final testing just as Apple added the security feature that checks if you really want to run an applescript if you launch it for the first time. Great idea security wise, but it causes a dialog to pop up over the full screen game on some setups).

shame, I'll keep doing what i'm doing until it gets fixed. Are you working on it or ignoring it?

It's one we're going to come back to. It may be re-incorporated as a 'power user' option.

I'm thinking of doing an update at some point that lets you win game types in a similar fashion to the original Airburst (rather than going through Story mode), so I'll probably look at the music playing when I work on that.

yay i'm a 'power user' Biggrin
