PowerMac 6100 video

hello,
I have a PowerMac 6100 and a display with a DB-15 connector, but no adapter to use it with the powermac. Can i solder a DB-15 connector on the PM 6100's motherboard to use it with the monitor i have, or does someone have the pinout for the HDI connector on the PM?

HDI-45

Ah, HDI-45, the ADC of it's day. It had ADB, sound, and video all integrated into it. Sadly, unlike HDI-45, only one Apple monitor ever supported it (the Audiovision 14). You can find adapters pretty easily on eBay or your local Apple dealer. I know of one shop in Florida that has a few (at least they did when I was last there in March). Considering your time and effort, it would probably be cheaper, less frustrating, and a sure bet to buy the adapter. Though, it may not be a bad idea to seek out one of the AV kits for the 6100. They've certainly come down in price and have db-15 right out of the box. Plus, the AV card has 2mb of video ram vs. the 640k that the 6100 has alotted to video memory standard. In addition the AV card has s-video in and out.

adapters

Here's the pinout. I just googled "hdi-45" pinout to find it.

Alternately, I've got quite a bunch of Apple HDI-45 -> DB-15 adapters for sale if anyone's interested.

Send me $5 for each one you want along with a SASE (self-addressed stamped envelope.) Each adapter weighs about 4 oz. and are roughly 7" x 1" x 2". I'm at US ZIP 08618, include enough postage for the weight of the envelope (and if envelope isn't padded, a maybe 1 oz. for padding) and the adapter(s).

Die-hard computer

That Audiovision 14 monitor was a pretty nice little contraption. I had one a couple of years ago and finally gave it to Goodwill during a fit of housecleaning. I think there was a 17in. version also with the HDI-45 connector. The HDI-45 connector provided audio in and out from the monitor which had speakers and a mike built-in. The best thing to do with a 6100 is get one of the Sonnet Crescendo G3 upgrades, which I've seen sell for as little as under $10 on eBay recently. They've got a PDS pass-through slot that let's you install one of the 2mb AV video cards as well. The problem with any of those right-angle arrangements in the 6100 is they usually take a lot of subtle play before they connect and boot.
