Powerbook 3400C Does a Tweety Pie/Police Car Impression - Help!!

My mum's 3400C 240Mhz Powerbook when powered up makes the standard chime but then after a few seconds starts making loud tweeting and chattering (like monkeys in the jungle) and police sirens. The monitor does not power on.

When I unplug the power cable and remove the battery the noises continue for about 20 seconds.

She last used it around 1 month ago and it worked fine.

I have checked that there are no budgies or some Narnia-esque jungle behind the keyboard....so that rules that one out.

Any ideas guys??

I've never heard of this, nor does it sound familiar, plus it rings no bells. Any chance we could hear these peculiar aural emmitances?
