 <title> Alchemy 1.3
 (alchemy-13.hqx)</title>
 <link>http://www.applefritter.com/node/10768</link>
 <description>Path: files.tidbits.com/info-mac/app/alchemy-13.hqx

Abstracts from files in info-mac/app as of Sun 20 Mar 2005

Alchemy is a nifty little program for finding word ladders.
A word ladder is a sequence of words made by changing one letter at
a time; eg. LEAD LOAD GOAD GOLD. Given any two words, Alchemy will
find the shortest ladder between them, or beep if none found.
It can also find random ladders and longest ladders.

Alchemy 1.3 is a Carbonized app that runs natively on OS X.
It also runs on OS 8.6/9.x if CarbonLib 1.3 or later is installed.
The shareware fee is $20. For more details see:

 <title> LockOut 4.1
 (lockout-41.hqx)</title>
 <link>http://www.applefritter.com/node/11845</link>
<description>LockOut is a $15 Mac application that helps keep people from using your Mac
while you're away. Helps keep your Mac safe from your co-workers while at
the office, and from your kids while at home.

email: lockout@mauisoftware.com
www: &lt;http://www.mauisoftware.com&gt;

New for LockOut 4.1:
- New background window option in General prefs: ScreenSaver.

- New Security prefs: Clear session log. If set, the log clears when
LockOut quits.

- Password set from the File menu (instead of the Preferences).

- Admin utility can disable the user from setting the password.

- If the username is blank, LockOut fills it with the name from the File
Sharing control panel, and if that fails, from the Internet control panel.

New for LockOut 4.0:
Below is a partial list of new features.

€ Admin mode is now set by a separate application called "LockOut Admin".
This application is normally used by a system administrator type person.
"LockOut Admin" allows enabling or disabling of LockOut functions. For
example, the LockOut 'quit' function or any of the preferences can be
disabled for whatever reason.

€ New Security preferences added:

--- "Warn of any break-in attempts after exiting LockOut mode". If checked,
and if any break-in attempts occur, an alert appears after exiting LockOut
mode.

--- "Switch to last application after exiting LockOut mode". If checked,
after exiting LockOut mode the last application used prior to LockOut
becomes the front application.

--- "Use Keychain for password". If checked, LockOut stores and uses the
password found in the default Keychain Access control panel. You can edit
the Keychain Access control panel and add a new LockOut password item
(Important: the Name must be LockOut, and the Account must be the user name
used for LockOut).

--- łAllow other apps to Quit LockOut without a password when in LockOut
mode˛. If checked, allows other applications (like the Finder) to quit
LockOut without LockOut requesting a password.

€ New General preferences added:
-- "Hide Login window when in LockOut mode" hides the Login window until the
mouse moves or a key is pressed.

€ Background picture can now be PICT, JPEG, TIFF, or GIFF file.

 <title> iAqua 1.1.1 - K2 Scheme
 (i-aqua-111.hqx)</title>
 <link>http://www.applefritter.com/node/17496</link>
 <description>Dear Mac User,

The iAqua Kaleidoscope Scheme is the result of many experiments and
everyday field testing in Graphical User Interfaces (GUI).

iAqua is a combination of all the Aqua schemes ever released in the
Internet. I took the best elements of each scheme, made a few
pixel-to-pixel
corrections, and created what I believe to be a ballanced sum.

If you are a Kaleidoscope Scheme Designer, you are free to use any
elements of the scheme you want, under the condition that you will
clearly
refer to their origin.

     iAqua is StudyThePastware &amp; FightTheFutureware.

 <title> ezBackup.scpt 1.0
 (ez-backup-10.hqx)</title>
 <link>http://www.applefritter.com/node/13353</link>
 <description>ezBackup.scpt 1.0

Description

Here's an AppleScript droplet to compress files and folders with the
unix utility "gnutar" which comes with the Apple Developer Tools. This
script equals to manually typing "gnutar zcf" with Terminal. You can
have a choice whether to add suffix or not. By default, the suffix is
the date in yyyymmdd format. I build this script to save myself a few
seconds every time I back up my files (which happens many times daily).
This script is provided to you "AS IS" and the responsibility for its
operation is yours.

 <title> File-Adopter-1.0.dmg
 (file-adopter-10.hqx)</title>
 <link>http://www.applefritter.com/node/13354</link>
<description>File Adopter 1.0 is now available.

File Adopter uses your Internet Config preferences to add type and
creator codes to files that lack them. Typeless files are common on Mac
OS X, and are a source of numerous frustrations. File Adopter works with
simple drag and drop. It can replace existing type and creator codes if
they disagree with Internet Config, or only add codes when they are
absent. After adopting a file, it shows you the changes it has made. You
can also hold down Shift to orphan a file, instead of adopting it. This
is useful if you know that the file has incorrect codes but that the
correct ones aren't in Internet Config.

 <title> mBeat 1.1.4
 (mbeat-x-114.hqx)</title>
 <link>http://www.applefritter.com/node/11427</link>
<description>One world, one time. mBeat is a new clock that displays time in Swatch
beats. The Swatch Beat is a new global concept of time that divides a
day into 1000 units and defines a new global time zone. Each unit,
called a beat, is equivalent to 1 minute 26.4 seconds, this means that
12 noon in the old time system is equivalent to 500 beats.

Because mBeat uses the same timezone no matter where in the world you
are it is an excellent way of coordinating online chats with your
friends or business colleagues.

Requires MacOS X

For more information about mBeat or any of our other products surf to:

 <title> List inspector Xtra
 (list-inspector-xtra-111.hqx)</title>
 <link>http://www.applefritter.com/node/12485</link>
 <description>What's new in this version:

*    Extended Tree View functionality

Product Description:

Whitemedia's List Inspector is a special watcher window for Macromedia
Director. The plugin is intended to be used within the Director IDE (or so
called Authoring Mode).

The List Inspector will display lists (which are Lingo equivalent for array
and matrix implementation) in a more comprehensible way than the square
bracket littered list form. Linear and Property lists can be displayed, as
well as sprites and parent script instances.

The List Inspector has 3 visual modes: the first is the Record View, in
which the list is displayed on a record-per-record basis. The second, the
Table View, will display the list as a table, very similar as you would
expect to see in any spreadsheet application. The third is the Tree View,
making the inspection of nested lists easier than ever.
