Apple II

So this happened

First off I'd like to say hello, long time (several years at least) lurker, first time poster. Smile I grew up with a Laser 128 and like most people I moved to PC's in the 90's. I still have my original Laser 128 which I occasionally fire up to play taipan or load runner. I've got an office full of older systems at home, although mostly older unix systems. Recently while hunting for vintage systems on the local classifieds site I found post that stated "I have a shop full of vintage computers.

Apple II Europlus - No Graphics

First off, I have to say it is great to see there is a healthy community for the old Apples out there! I am a new member and recently found a Europlus (I am in Australia). I learned to code on one of these back in the early 80s. I have it up and running and seem to go well except for one thing, it does not display graphics, the screen just goes blank whenever graphics should be shown.

GSOS 6 and using HFS partitions

I have had positive experiences executing IIgs programs from an HFS partition (Games, utilities, etc...) I suppose I could also save games and files to an HFS too? Is this a safe practice with GSOS 6.0.3?

Also, is there a good utility for defragging HFS with an apple II? Does ProDOS fragment?

Mountain Computer Music System

Calling SpeedyG,

I notice that you have on that amazing Applebox site, schematics and pcb layouts for the MC music system cards. Are the files available on your site if I wanted to make some of the boards? I could not seem to find them.
Would you be able to share them?
Someone on the AppleII Facebook page was looking to make some.

Thanks
Rob

Apple IIC Plus

I recently stumbled across an Apple IIc Plus!

Has the 3.5" built in floppy drive, and internal power supply.

But I have a lot of questions!!

I believe they started selling these in 1988, and continued until 1991. Anybody know for sure? (I can't even find a copy of the owner's manual for the IIc Plus yet!)

Also I can't find any production numbers, not even SWAGs about how many were produced. Anybody??

Apple ii Europlus - suddenly throwing up erratic error

Hi All

I have used this forum over many years to help me restore my Apple II Europlus (UK model). The machine has been fully working for many years, but recently I decided to try and fix up some un-serviceable Drive II's using the detailed diagnostics from Speedy G. I suspect it is pure coincidence, but after running tests on one drive, the machine threw an error along the lines of:

EE00- A=DA X=F4 Y=04 P=39 S=E0

VisiCalc on the IPhone

Hi guys,

I feel a little sad that all of this does not happen with an Apple II emulation ... but it is so fine ... so, here you can run VisiCalc on your IPhone and IPad:

put VisiCalc (1981) in drive A; load; hit Return to prompt; then "VC" ...

You are also able to save your work!

Quick lo-res sprite parser in basic

Hey guys,

Recently I've been messing around with graphics on the apple, and while trying to wrap my head around hi-res mode I decided it might be fun to make something quick in lo-res.

Doing this in Applesoft with the PLOT command is easy but quite slow, especially when you try and add things such as collision or sound effects.

So I tried making a simple routine that moves a sprite around the screen by poking values directly into memory.

Anyone run APTEST?

As far as I can tell, my disk drives are working fine - I have the card in slot 6, my Floppy Emu is drive 1, and a floppy disk drive that works as drive 2.

When I run the "Disk Interface Test" in APTEST, I get "DRIVE ROM BAD" and that's it.

I have no problems running anything from the Floppy Emu, I can INIT, LOAD and SAVE things to drive 2.
