The goal of this poject is to provide annotated scans of all Apple motherboards and peripheral boards.

Everybody is welcome to participate. To upload an image, go here. The "Title" should be the name of the card, with the last word being either "Front" or "Back", to indicate the circuit or solder side of the card, respectively. "Path alias" must be left blank. In "Images" select the board side, board type, and board function. You must select exactly one field from each of these three categories. In the "Description", you are welcome to provide relevant notes.

We're looking for scans of any Apple-related boards not already in the archives. The quality of the scans is very important. They should be:

72 dpi

24-bit color JPEGs

All text on the card and ICs must be easily legible.

Ideally, the background should be white.

JPEGs must be of high quality with no visible artifacts; in GraphicCoverter, set quality to 90%

Nubus cards should be 700 pixels high

If the the board has an external connector (eg. a video port), scan the card on end and paste it into the circuit-side image.

Once images are submitted they cannot be withdrawn. You retain copyright, but you also assign permanent rights to publication to Tom Owad of Applefritter.

If you'd like to go the extra mile, you can annotate the board.

Computer Specs How-To

The Computer pages are meant to pull together all the information available for a particular model.

If you'd like to become the maintainer for a page that does not exist, create it here. If the page already has the specs filled in, but is not being maintained, message Tom Owad to become that page's maintainer.

The Description should give the history of the model and note any distinguishing features. The description should be about this model computer in general, not about your computer specifically.

Image should be a frontal view of the model. This photograph must be included.

Software & Drivers should provide download links to software necessary to use the computer. Links should be in the format [node:#], where '#' is the Applefritter node ID.

Documentation should be a list of links to manuals and other documentation. Links should be in the format [node:#], where '#' is the Applefritter node ID.

More Images should be thumbnails of all other images of the computer on Applefritter. The thumbnails should be in the format [thumb:#], where # is the Applefritter node ID.

Board Scans should contain thumbnails of any board scans of the computer available from the Nubus Mafia project. The thumbnails should be in the format [thumb:#], where # is the Applefritter node ID.

Related Discussions should contain links to relevant discussions in the forums. Links should be in the format [node:#], where '#' is the Applefritter node ID.

Submitting content to Applefritter

Want to contribute to Applefritter? Have a hack, project, guide, review, or documentary you want to share? To get your article online quickly, follow these submission guidelines.

These directions still need improvement, so if you have trouble understanding anything, please do not hesitate to contact me with questions.
Document
Be thorough. If you're documenting a process, explain each step. Intersperse graphics as appropriate. Use proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Do not be shy about submitting something you think is too simple or too easy.
Photograph
It is important that quality photographs be taken throughout your project. Take a picture at each progression, and then decide later which ones should be included in the final presentation (probably most of them).

The images must be centered. The background must be free of clutter and distraction. Yes, I realize every inch of your home is covered in loose computer parts, but you'll just have to clean up a corner before taking these pictures. If you have a poster or anything else on the wall that might be distracting, take it down. If objects in the background compliment the hack, you may leave them in the photograph.

You must create one "thumbnail" image, 100 pixels in width and approximately the same in height. This photo must be representative of you project and should probably portray it in its finished state.

Photographs taken with Quickcams and the like will very likely be of inadequate quality. If you do not have a real digital camera, many stores can develop your film to PhotoCD.
Submit
In order to upload content, you must first register.

Once registered, create a new story.

The "Title" is the name of your article as it will appear in all listings and at the top of your page.

Choose the appropriate "Content Type". It is possible multiple categories apply, especially if your article is a hack. In the case of a hack, you should choose either "Artistic" or "Engineering" (or both, if appropriate), and then the type of hack such as Custom Desktop, Laptop Mod, etc.

If your article is relevant to a particular type of computer, choose it from the "Computer Types" list. Multiple selections are acceptable.
