FYI, the official service manuals have been released. No, I have no Applish idea where one might get them. Sorry.

'bout time!
Interestingly, the built-in LCD uses LVDS rather than the previous TMDS signaling.

Who needs Classic?!!? VirtualPPC anyone? sheepshaver
See, there is hope for classic Mac OSes on Intel!

(Not sure why I'm putting this here, but I guess it relates to those folks with new Imacs who can no longer run Classic . . . )
xlr8yourmac is reporting the Intel iMac is socketed (no link...it's on their main news page, so there's no perma-link available).
A reader quoted MacFan (Japanese Mac magazine) that an Intel Core Duo 2GHz T2500 CPU has successfully booted in a 1.83GHz iMac.
Price difference vs. performance doesn't make that worthwhile currently, but the news here is that there is an easy processor upgrade path available as the core duo matures.
Isn't that what the Lombard/Pismos used? I wonder if it could be possible to swap mobo and screen. I realize that the cases would not allow this without considerable work, but if one had a Pismo w/ a bad screen and an iMac out of wranty w/ a fried mobo...
just a random thought.
