My iMac G4 17" 1Ghz started making a clicking noise and wouldn't come out of sleep. Took it in hoping it was a bad HD, which they confirmed, but after installing a new HD they also said my motherboard was dead. Ebay seems to often have motherboards for other G4iMacs but I never see the 1.0Ghz. Are these rare or what? I hate to trash a 17" LCD, and airport card, iSight camera and RAM but with both HD and MB needing replacement I don't see much choice. Apple wants $599 plus my old board for a new board. Right.
