Scanning in OS X

I have a Brother MFC-5200C multifunctional unit that I like pretty well. It has a USB port, and works (supposedly) with Macs. I've downloaded and installed the drivers on my beige G3 running OS X. What software do I use to scan things now? The only thing I've ever used to scan something at home was ColorIt 3.0 on my 5200 with my 12 year old Microtek scanner. The G3 has a Belkin USB 2-port card in a PCI slot. I tried printing to it, and it wouldn't print. My Epson 880 works fine on the same card, so it's not the card's problem.

Seeking personal recommendations for OCR software for OSX

I'm shopping around for OCR (Optical Character Recognition) software for OSX. OmniPagePro X is marketed well, but I have no idea how well it works.

I've downloaded and am testing the demo for ReadIrisPro9 (don't let the name fool you, it is for OSX), and it doesn't work well at all with the one feature that attacted me to it; the ability to do an OCR scan from an image document (like a JPEG picture).

Performa 5400/200 problems

my 'new' performa and its sisters wont display anything on the screen altough one will and it made a clicking noise at me, which nearly made me jump under the table Blum 3 it doesnt make it to the desktop, i get a error box which is empty and it only displays an ok button. the other ppcs will make the bong and the likes but it 'seems' dead. probably is the contrast but i doubt it
